“American Dream”

At face value, I am an American Millennial, a white girl who came up in the Y2K era of pop iconography and self-discovery. My physical ancestors all came from someplace other, assimilating to fit in. I am a product of that. I am the American Dream. In the USA, the flag is held in such high regard, yet this country has a sordid history — up to present day — of manipulation, violence, and oppression. Territory is a political construct, and with the current state of the union, I decided to de-construct a flag as a statement of dissent. We are at a time of ripping apart what no longer serves to reformat the fabric of humanity. This notion also links to my spiritual affiliation as a Divine Child of the Universe, and “As Above, So Below.” We are living in a time of major cosmic shift.

On my mother’s side, I have represented Mexican and Polish heritage. The symbology is of the Divine Feminine and indigenous knowledge manifested from growing up in a holistic and naturopathic environment. It speaks to the interconnectedness of all things and an honoring of the profound power of the body, mind, and plants as medicine.

On my father’s side, I have represented my Jewish culture. These ancestors are part of a global diaspora who have, over millennia of repeated expulsion, made their home wherever they could. The symbols featured here are: “chai,” the Hebrew symbol for “life,” and the six-pointed Star of David. This symbol is also used in alchemy to represent the four elements and in sacred geometry is called the “Mer-Ka-Ba.”

At base value, I am a cultivator. Cultivation is Resilience, Sovereignty, Agency, the ability to evolve and make place as a being of the earthly realm. That is what I have been taught, that is what I came here to do, that is what I share with the world. It is in my spirit, and in my bones.
