My name is Madison Kopsa; many identities live within me. I am a glass and multimedia artist, a mother, partner, and friend. I am a lover of nature, an ally, and a birth doula. My existence is woven together by diverse lived experiences, both good and bad.

The headpiece I created serves as a reflection of the temple of my mind and the many roles and identities that have and will continue to shape my journey through life. At first glance, the glass is captivating, shiney and stunning, when you take a closer look you will find small cracks or breaks, you won’t see the tension of the unannealed glass beyond the surface. Just as the threads of glass on my headpiece intertwine, so too do the various facets of my being—some inseparably linked, while others merely rest upon the surface. At the front of this creation, a snake emerges, a symbol that forever resonates with my soul. For me, the snake is the epitome of transformation, representing the continuous shedding of our old selves to embrace new lives and identities.

Through this piece, I invite viewers to contemplate the entangled tapestry of their own existence.

A heartfelt thank you to our funders and sponsors for helping us to realize these projects in full.
