I come from many generations of artists—creatives in every medium—whose influence shaped my path from the very beginning. As a multidisciplinary artist, I move fluidly between painting, dance, sculpture, sewing, woodworking, and building. Creating has been a lifelong companion, but the heart of my practice is always the process: the transformation, the mess, the quiet unfolding. Art is how I connect to myself and the world around me.

I’ve been fortunate to share this passion with my children, who are already blooming with talent and love for the arts—it’s a legacy I’m proud to nurture. For Cultural Threads, I created a wearable skirt that embodies my identity as a mother. When I was pregnant, I often wore long, flowing skirts as my belly grew, and as my children grew, they would play and hide within the folds of my skirts, finding safety and comfort in the fabric that wrapped around us both.

To represent that, I created this skirt in three symbolic panels. The masculine panel features two serpents—blue and pink—coiled around a golden sun, representing Kundalini energy, rebirth, and transformation. The feminine panel holds a yoni: the sacred portal of life, cradled by cleansing waters and crowned with a crescent moon—symbols of creation, cycles, and the eternal return. The center panel portrays me as a wounded healer, grounded by a blooming lotus rising from darkness. Above it, two muddy hands reflect my hardworking nature, my love for gardening, art, and the sacred mess of making. This garment is both shield and altar—expressing the harmony between masculine and feminine within me, and the strength, depth, and devotion of my motherhood.

Each stitch is a prayer, each image a mirror of my inner world. Through it, I honor myself on this incredible journey.
