Judy Butzine is co-founder and past director of the Cultural Arts Coalition. She has been a health care professional for 20 years. Later as an MSW & Human Rights advocate, Judy facilitated community service endeavors thru multidisciplinary arts programming for all ages and backgrounds.

Ms. Butzine had been mentored by Dr. J. Eugene Grigsby Jr., African American artist, author, lecturer/ASU Professor Emeritus for many years.  She practices a Discipline Based Art Education methodology that addresses the spiritual in all arts instructed curriculums. This is promoted by national and state standards as well as by Discipline-Based Art Education Multidisciplinary art teachers. “One should provide authentic knowledge of the history of the art’s experience as a complement within art studio activities. Even if one focused solely on Western art, spiritual imagery and objects make up a major part of art's history, and so cannot be ignored.” (Seymour Simmons III, Ed.D, 2002)

Ms Butzine’s many years of community arts programming, advocates an integrated arts and social systems approach, focused on cognitive development, awareness and leadership skills for meaningful communication; personal empowerment thereby facilitating safe environments. The outcome is to creatively reveal one’s social and/or cultural story: honoring one's artistic creation.
