Words stir emotions; ignite revolutions, fuel anger, calm fears.
Words evolve, changing us and the world we live in.
Words bring renewal to replace decay.
Words of liberty allow us to inhale the sweet fragrance of freedom
and exhale the foul stench of oppression.

Excerpt from “Words Breathe Life”, a poem by Christy Sholola

For as long as Christy Sholola can remember, she has marveled at the power of words—whether they appeared in a book, melodiously sung in a song, or eloquently spoken by an orator—and their lasting impact on human beings.

So, it’s no surprise that Christy has spent much of her personal and professional life writing and/or editing. During the course of her career, Christy has worked as a curriculum editor, technical writer/editor, documentation editor, lead editor, and content editor at universities and organizations throughout the Phoenix metro area and in virtual/online environments. She enjoys editing content and views it as an important role at any organization because it tends to reflect an organization’s beliefs, intent, and desire to promote its commitment to excellence and professionalism, while also emphasizing diversity, equity, and inclusion as consistent messages and goals throughout their content.

Christy is a native of Shreveport, Louisiana. She graduated from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in News-Editorial Journalism, and received a Master of Arts degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia in Political Science with an emphasis on Policy Analysis and Evaluation.  Currently, she works as an editor within the NEP Instructional Design  team, which is now part of National University. During her leisure time, she enjoys reading great novels, writing poetry, shopping at vintage thrift stores, collecting unique beads and buttons, and designing beaded jewelry.
